Andrew is a retired computer software developer and architect. After completing 22 years in all aspects of software construction, from programming, to design, to architecture, on all computer platforms (mainframe, mid range and desktop machines. Andrew retired from the "rat race" to devote his attention to furniture and cabinet construction full-time.
Andrew has been constructing "things" from an early age, helping his father and brothers doing additions on their houses, etc. After graduating from college, he built his first house from scratch, doing everything except the drywall and heating/cooling systems. This was a "learning" experience as you might imagine. After that he settled into building cabinets. First starting on built in units and kitchens. Primarily working for family and friends while "getting his feet wet", he then progressed to furniture. Again, using personal acquaintances as his guinea pigs for his apprenticeship while he gained the experience and techniques necessary to create quality pieces. Since 1998, he has been constructing furniture and cabinets for "real" customers, attained solely from word of mouth referrals. All in all, this apprenticeship has lasted for 15 years before "officially" entering into the commercial world.
Andrew is self taught and has made many mistakes along the way. All of his knowledge has been acquired from reading books and magazines by the masters and other experts. But most importantly, he has learned by doing and then doing again, constantly refining his techniques and practices.
